As a registered waste carrier with the Environment Agency, we aim on every job to divert as much as possible away from landfill.
Our Commitment
Alma Enterprises takes environmental responsibility seriously on every clearance we carry out across Cumbria and North Lancashire. Our aim is simple: reuse, donate or recycle wherever we can, and dispose of the rest legally and responsibly.
How We Handle Items We Clear
- Reuse. Furniture, household goods and other items in good condition are, wherever possible, passed on for reuse rather than disposed of.
- Donation. Usable items are offered to local charities and community organisations where appropriate and where the customer is happy for us to do so.
- Recycling. Materials such as metal, wood, electricals (WEEE), paper and cardboard are separated and sent for recycling wherever facilities allow.
- Responsible disposal. Anything that cannot be reused or recycled is disposed of legally and responsibly through licensed waste facilities, in line with our Environment Agency waste carrier licence.
Licensing & Compliance
We hold a valid upper-tier waste carrier licence with the Environment Agency. All waste is transferred and disposed of through licensed facilities — we never fly-tip, and we never cut corners on legal disposal.
Sensitive Situations
For bereavement, probate and downsizing clearances in particular, we understand that items may carry sentimental value. We are always happy to set aside specific items you would like to keep, gift to family, or handle separately — just let us know before or during the clearance.
